Heiliggeistkirche

Heiliggeistkirche (or church of the Holy Spirit) in Munich by its importance can be compared with the city’s Cathedral. Church originates from the 13th century but one century after it was rebuilt in the Gothic style. In 1724 its interior has been adorned in Baroque and last time church has been rebuilt in 1895 when was updated its façade.

Interior of Heiliggeistkirche combines Gothic and Baroque traits. Note the murals of its ceiling where portrayed episodes of hospital’s life which once stood near the church.

Heiliggeistkirche’s altar – is designed by Nikolaus Stuber and Antonio Matteo in 1728. It was badly damaged during the last war and carefully restored after.
