Ottweiler

Ottweiler is a small historic German town which located at Saar land not far from its capital. Last war not passed through the city so Rottweiler has a beautiful and well preserved historical architecture. That is why I love such cities as Ottweiler and prefer them to the big industrial centers.

Good point to start your excursion over the city is a The Alter Turm (old tower), which originates from 15th century when it was a part of the city’s fortifications. Today tower serves as a belfry of the local church.

The church also has been built in the 15th century but few centuries after it was re-built by designs of Friedrich Joachim Stengel.

Most charming area in Ottweiler – is a Rathausplatz. It’s a historic center of the city with a lot of old houses which belonged previously to the wealthy citizens. Most of them are dating from the 17th and 18tn centuries. City Hall (The Altes Rathaus) of Ottweiler was built in 1714. Note that base of the building was built from stone, while the rest of the construction is half-timbered.
